EFI guys - Your opinions on fuel line routing?
I'm now at the stage in my truck where I can finally run the fuel lines. I have a Sniper EFI kit which gives me multiple options on where the line inlet/outlets can be, and I'm running Holley (Earls) UltraPro braided hose, non S.S. I'm looking at options on the best way to run the fuel lines for best distance from the headers, and also trying to keep them from rubbing on things.
I basically have three options: 1. "Stock TBI Style": Route the lines up and over the transmission crossmember, and up the back of the transmission. This provides be the absolute best clearance from the exhaust, but I have no way of securing the lines up the back of the transmission, so they will basically be laying on the trans the whole time. I'd be more okay with this if I had stainless braided lines, but I do not. 2. "Trans lines": I can route the fuel lines similarly over the transmission crossmember, and then route them along with the transmission lines up to the front, where they'd route up the front side corner of the engine, similar to a stock carb style. This provides moderate clearance to the exhaust, and would be a bit easier to secure 3. "Frame rails": Run the fuel lines completely up the passenger frame rail just like the stock carb lines, and have them exit and route up the engine just like stock. This would be the easiest route to secure the lines from rubbing anything by far, but will sit pretty close to the headers where they cross by the frame. This isn't too big of a deal, as I can make a small aluminum heat shield for that area. Just curious what the other EFI swappers here have done, or would recommend? Tons of build threads on here, but I can't find much in the way of how most have ran their lines. I'm leaning towards #3 personally. |
