Cool 4L60e toast?

OK, so Sunday night I let my cousin drive and this idiot misses a turn and backs up from the red light so fast the truck shudders and almost died, I'm yelling something is coming so he throws it into drive and hauls a$$. We pull over, I take over and it rides fine all the way home.

Next morning I back out to the street, it wants to kill, it is literally on E so I call for gas and it does the same thing. I drop the transmission pan and the transmission fluid smells like a burning clutch on a standard. I snapped some photos and the pan has a lot of gold and black clunks!

The fluid is extremely dark, the truck also shudders and wants to kill in P,R,N,D.
So what I'm wondering is if I can possibly just change the filter and fluid to band aid this issue.
I could buy a junkyard transmission but I'm in New Orleans and I think there's a pretty good chance if I found one, it probably flooded last year.

As always many thanks for your advice/experience it is greatly appreciated!!!!
