72 c10 pickup spindle tie rod hole

Hello,
first time posting.
i have a 72 C10 pickup and went to change driver side outer tie rod and the spindle hole doesn't have any taper to it. i found it weird b/c when i checked the passenger side it did. must have gotten wollered out. Has anyone used the tapered steering knuckle inserts before? i was trying to keep from buying an all new spindle. From the research i have done it will be 285.00 and up for a pair of spindles and would still need to change my break rotors etc. and it would add up vs a 10 dollar insert.

Any help?

Thanks
