Anyone Running Chrome Tailgate Straps?

I am in the process of getting ready to get my 85 painted And i was thinking about how much abuse and little scratches the tailgate straps get

A friend of mines Girlfriends Dad Works At A Plating Shop And Claims To Do Really Good Chrome Work. He would plate them for a case of beer wich is 15$ Bucsh

But what im wondering is how durable it will be compared to just getting them painted The truck is getting painted Black with Base/Clear And Just had the idea of the Straps Being Chromed


Ive never Had Any Experience with chrome stuff like that Something that might get hit or scraped upon.


Anyone got any info.
