Lightbulb OK folks, I need some knowledge!!!

...I've read, priced, thought, read, priced, thought, etc, ect...
My goal is to rod out my 54 panel. I've thought about replacing the rear, and installing a Mustang II IFS in the front but, that's a pricey goal (not to mentioned the mod's necessary). Just the IFS portion is around 1400 to 2000.
For the cost, it's seems I could by a complete chassis, from a yard, of a later model vehicle and end up with the front and rear disks, rear and the whole schmere. The question is what will come close to fitting right?
I need help and I'm ready to get the project going!!!
