Spare tire location options needed for a fleetside

Hey guys, my spare tire is 16" x 7.50 (33" tall) and although I have a factory spare tire mount bracket that holds the spare upright between the wheel tub and header panel, up against the inside of the box side, I am looking for viable options.

My truck is a 1959 short box fleetside and I have relocated the gas tank under the bed. The truck is currently under construction so now is the time to come up with a solution.

I understand that my options are limited, but am still curious what you guys think.

Maybe I could run without a spare tire?
Maybe use the spare tire bracket to hold it flat on it's back on the floor of the bed centered and up against the header panel?

Brown 59 is my truck. Picture taken a while ago.
Red NAPCO is NOT mine but does illistrate the tire location and mount that I currently have.
The rim and tire is mine.

Any recommendations are welcome.
