04 Tahoe Timing Cover Seal Install Help!!

I'm in the process of replacing my timing cover seal for 04 Tahoe engine that will go into my 68. Just wanted to know if anyone has a recommendation on how to install it with out damaging when the cover is put onto the engine? I've seen the tool online but i was hoping i wouldn't have to buy it. Is it possible to install without the alignment tool or is it best to buy the tool? If i do need the tool which do you guys recommend? Thanks
