Shorten a Stepside Box???

I want to assume it's the same as shortening a fleet side, 12" in front and 8" out back. The wheel bases are the same either way.

But I have a long box stepper, and I don't see 8" behind the back of the fender.

In my exhaustive searching, I found one reference to take 15" out of the front, and 5" out of the back, but I can't corroborate that with any other source.

Can anyone shed light on this?
