Wheel bearing wobble

Just replaced my front wheel bearings on the 87, and man what a difference. Everyone always talks about how you'll know they're bad: Mainly that it will make a noise and when you jack up the truck and rock the tire, you'll be able to tell. But does anyone ever talk about how bad wheel bearings make the vehicle seem to... wobble side to side? Its almost as if the truck seemed to be in high winds that were coming from the side. On the highway. Not all that noticeable when just driving through the neighborhood.

I posted this thread to see if there is some kind of gap in my information. Could it be that I had an odd situation where my bearings where about to disintegrate, but they never made a noise? Anyone else ever had the diving experience dramatically improve from replacing the wheel bearings?
