Wiper motor replacement

Greetings to one and all. Hope the holiday has been good to everyone and all fingers are still attached. I replaced the wiper motor on my 78 GMC STEPSIDE since the current motor would not stop spraying water. The reman wiper motor from summit worked fine while I was testing it. Then it blew the fuse and another fuse and another fuse. I only switched motors, why is it blowing fuses? The reman wiper motor doesn’t run at all now. I put the original back on and now it’s not running either. It’s summer in N.C. and it will rain. I need dependable wipers, your help is appreciated. St1
