tire rubs steering arm
My 68 GMC 4x4 has what amounts to maybe a 1-2" lift becuase of adding leafs to old ones, a shop did this. But the tires I got at a real good price with rims are BIG, and I like that it makes up for the SM465 trans and 4.56 gears. However the left tire hits a steering arm when I turn to the right. Has anyone fixed this before? All I can think of is
1. smaller tires 2. alot more lift 3. customize the steering arm 4. weld a nice flat peice of metel around the arm so the smooth part of the tire hits it instead of the tread grabbing that steering rod. OH, I didn't mention I have no power steering, which I'd like to have but have no clue how or how much $. The tires are about 33" currently. I should also mention that the previous owner put in a 250-6 which I am debating on swapping to a 350 on a limited budget.
