Wiper motor and dash brace

I'm wondering if I wasted a lot of time or not this morning. I got my brake assembly bracing all done, took forever to bend the pieces just right, to thick to do with pliers.

It's installed, its strong, I'm happy and then I thought of the old brace that went from firewall to dash and also held the wiper motor. I thought I had to have it get the motor in the right spot. Well I felt like a real dummy when I noticed and then remembered how I took it off. There are two brackets on underside of dash. Spent a lot of extra time cutting and painting and getting it to fit back in there.

Do I need the old brace? What did mount to it under the dash? Is my brace assembly enough of a brace?
