Cool New fuel pump, no sound

OK, I installed a new fuel pump yesterday cleaned all the gas lines, new fuel filter. Tank is in good condition but the old fuel pump dropped rust particles from the clamps. I'll maybe one day drop the tank and clean it, probably not since I cut a access to the fuel pump.
The new fuel pump doesn't prime and truck wouldn't start, checked battery with jumper it shows red, damn Walmart batteries! I thought even if the battery is really low wouldn't cause the fuel pump not to prime, the truck almost started a few times but I heard nothing.

As always many thanks in advance for the advice, it is greatly appreciated!
