Info for electrical minded folks

So I purchased a good used interior wiring harness with fuse panel to attack some gremlins that keep popping up from time to time and found out some pretty interesting stuff.

The fuse panel has approx. 7 fuse holder clips in it which I removed to clean up. Dumped them into some Evaporust to clean them up, knowing the brass and copper would not be harmed.

Galvanic corrosion is a mother! These things are made with at least 3 different metals. Copper, Brass, Spring Steel and Chrome Plated Spring Steel. Add condensation and electricity to that and this is how they cleaned up after 50 years.

The evaporust got under the chrome plating and ate the rust yet I was able to scrape off the chrome and wire brush. Could not believe the effort. I may just coat with dielectric and install instead of fighting with soldering. Could not get solder to stick to any of that. May try one more time. Rosin flux is not cutting it for sure.

If you ever wondered why you have electrical issues this is the place to start for sure.
