I see many hot rod builders are eager to install every modern gadget on their cars and trucks: power steering, GPS, power windows, remote door locks, reverse cameras, EFI, and computer-controlled engines. I hear it 100 times a day on the Motor Trend channel: they want an old truck with all the comfort, convenience, and performance of a modern vehicle. Well, autonomous vehicles are coming - will you go so far as to retrofit self-driving technology into YOUR classic Chevy pickup? Guys are hurriedly pulling carbureted engines out to install LS motors and electronic transmissions, so where does the modernization end - or does it end at all? Will it be just a matter of time before human-driven vehicles are actually FORBIDDEN from roadways?
