driveline clunk or slip issue

Anyone have the driveline clunk and slip feel.
My 4wd 09 Yukon does this randomly. Wife's truck with 180,000 or so miles, Along with the clunk under the floor it "feels like" a second or so of slippage too (not trans clutch slippage). Otherwise it runs fine.
A quick search turned up known issues of such. The repair says to replace the slip yoke on the rear drive shaft with a nickel plated one.

I can understand replacing the yoke might cure the clunk but how could that take care of that "slip feel"?
