Question How do you go from 2 pieces to 1 piece?

Guys i need to know from those that have done it and those that have helped do it, and those that wish they could, should, or did have done it to help me with this.

I have an opprinitunity to buy this DRIVE SHAFT (i hope, that is if he hasn't sold it yet).

I have a 68 V8 2wd LWB w/ a 3 on the tree and i want to get rid of that horrendious (if that is a word) carrier bearing. I hate them, i don't like them, and I wish all of them to a dark and scarry dungeon or some where like Hell, MI for all that matter. Sorry i get a little carried away with my dislke and discontent

what all do i need to do to put this one piece in the place of the 2 piece application?
Can i just slide it into place and keep on trucking?
Does the part of the cross member need to be cut out to allow for the dropped distance of the new 1 piece?
And with those measurements given on that Post will it fit?

Thanks, sswj

BTW this is my 450th post, 50 more to go, do i get a prize?
