shifter help

Have a 200 4-r transmission in my 68. Going to use floor mounted Lokar shifter. (Not able to get column shifter to work after weeks of trying.) Lokar tech says I need to use the cable linkage with the floor mounted shifter, since I have a bench seat. Anyone have the 200 4-r and using Lokar floor shift in their truck? If so did u have to use the cable or were u able to use the rod linkage? Thanks to all who respond. Lokar also said could not use their case mounted shifter with the 200 in the 67-72 C-10
