Deluxe heater controls - am I missing a bit?

Evening all,

Quick question for those that know more than I.

I am fitting a deluxe heater control to Woody, stripped it down, fixed and lubricated various bits and now putting it back together.

However... I think I have lost a bit.

The glass panel that show what each slider does. The black that goes behind it is this a separate piece or is it just the backing that is painted black.

I have a feeling it is the former and I have lost a bit.

If so, what purpose does it serve and can I just paint the backing?

Anyway, any advice greatly appreciated.

Onwards!

P.
