Speedometer Thingy Question
Morning everyone!
So, when I got my truck, the speedometer cable screwed directly into the transfercase. I was able to locate another transfercase and that is the one that I ended up rebuilding due to the fact that it was in much better shape than the original one that came with the truck. The one that I rebuilt originally came out of a 1967 K10 (Mine is a 1967 K20). The K10 one had this wierd 90 degree gear thingy that the speedometer cable screwed into. As near as I can tell, it is not a gear reduction or anything. Is it needed, or was it something that was exclusive to 1/2 ton trucks? Did mine originally come with one and was it just missing on my truck? Also, can anyone confirm the correct speedometer cable routing along the frame? I cleaned up my cable and relubed the internal cable itself and just set it into the frame in the pictures below. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Clay
