Chemo or surgery

I mechanically stripped old repaint, filler primer, and org paint and primer from a hood with unknown history. These pin holes were not visible prior to strip.. They are along the back edge of hood in an area about 6x12 inches. I can flood the back side with converter and coat top with same. Then prime and fill making it a easy for me to chemo repair. The paint will be nice driver quality. Not show quality and 10 yrs max. Or is it a lost cause and will need surgery inside of 4 yrs anyway?
Sky is pretty blue so it is tinting the photos.
Thank you for opinion.
