when i put the bed on my truck i just went to lowes and got eight pieces of the galvanized bolts that were like 4 4 1/2" long flat washer and lock washer for each and a nut i believe the wrench size was 9/16 so that makes em a 7/16 bolt??
it was quite easy to do

Just curious, where abouts on the Island. From Brentwood here. I did mine over the summer. Used 1/2" carriage bolts from home depot. Got them long enough to use washers and lock washers. Can't remember the lengths though. Around 4 1/2" sounds about right for a few of them.

bbchevy, one (on each side) of the bolts goes all the way through the frame and needs to be like 12" long. i only got like 10"ers and couldnt use them and have been without them, doesnt hurt anything, but to be done right..

Long Bed Bolts
The long bed bolts that prerunner is talking about are on the pre 81 trucks. it is the second set of bolts back from the cab. The new model beds use different holes to mount the bed. My truck is a 80 model and put a 87 bed on it, only used 6 of the bolts to bolt mine down then had them spray bed liner over the holes.

The 81 and later trucks use two of the really long bolts. I used 8 of teh short ones, and it worked just fine. That was putting an 86 bed on my 73.
