Thanks Jim, you was absolutely correct with size of the bolt I needed. I guess the bolt threads I was seeing must have been from the bolt that was rubing againts the inside of the bracket before it fell out. Also found another bolt missing on the back side of the bracket (about where the "p" in points word is in the pic), I used a 3/8-16 x 3/4 bolt back there. It's straight and solid now. I also put new belts on when I had apart.
