step notch

hello to every one,
I was wondering if any one has put a step notch to a 1/2 ton with rear leafs.
if yes any advice before the cutting and welding starts. Also the rear shock mounts have to be cut can they be relocated elsewhere. Does any one now of a good site for some kind of tutorial cuz my friend has notched a frame before but never with rear leafs. thank in advanced.

it should be the same with or without leaves. i mean the concept stays the same. put the notch in and make sure its welded good then cut the middle out and finish welding. as far as shocks go thats left up to your imagination. you can run cross bars from each notch and mount tabs for the shock. thats one way of doing it but you can look at pictures on websites for more ideas. theres some wild stuff out there.
