here they are. there are some scratches here and there but nothing major. I also have plates for the front floor pans where the winshield section weld onto to bolt to the floor. I forgot to get the photo of those. I 'll go look for them tonight.

Looks just like the SmittyBilt in my '69, but I don't have the front section and the PO welded it to the bed!

It's a Smittybilt roll bar with front roll cage as an option. Off the shelf stuff. IMO one of the most stylish bars for our trucks.

I really like the size of the tubing they used on the SmittyBilt. Not as skinny as the stock, but not too fat. They look really sharp with the front section too! I can't put one in my '72 because of the side saddle tanks.

Redz - make sure you take some pictures when you get it installed! How's the tire/wheel swap going? What did you decide to do about your frame?

Going into a frame guy today. Guy only works on old off road Chevys and Fords and dune buggies. Doesn't have his own place, he just rents a bay at a frame shop. We had an instant repetoire, and he said he is going to help me as an enthusiast, not a businessman.

He already said he is going to try to keep it around $100 if that is all that is required, but he wants to rack it and check for any more frame problems. Said we have to make it an early day for him, he is heading to the desert this weekend.

Soon as I finish the bedroom, already told the wife the springs and rear blocks are going on. Truck is drivable now, but barely. I can make good LH turns, but RH turns rub on minor turns. I am 99% sure a front center pin is sheered, so the axle isn't centered.

Long story short- She's coming along and I am doing the right things. I am getting more patient. Must come with age.

I have all of the time in the world... I don't really need to have it back on the road until I can get the top off again.

Sounds like your making some progress. I'm glad you found a reasonable solution to your frame problem. I know I would have been extremely frustrated.

I thought I recognized that rollbar/cage. I know that Smittybuilt stopped making them. Did you find someone that still sells it? If so, where did you find it? I haven't checked the posts lately so I apologize if this question has already been asked.

Guy is gonna get my K5 up on the rack, quoted me $150 to repair it like new. I almost jumped out of my pants, because I know this is $400-500 range work if I was paying standard rates.

If I get the above roll bar by next Thursday (which it should come in, Alexis is shipping soon), he will fit it and weld it on Friday when I go in for the frame work.

One thing about working on these old classics. You meet some real shmucks, but you meet some really cool people too.

Of course, anywhere I go in the K5, I get good response because people like them so much...

Ok, the main roll bar is PN BL409, the front cage part is PN BL94. I found a company, ustaw.com; website said they had inventory. I was going to call, but then Alexis hooked me up. I bet if you shop around, you can find someone who has them in a dusty storeroom.

Couldn't have asked for more! Got the rollbar intact and in great shape. Bar/Cage are going to my fab guy on Friday to get welded up... That is if there is enough clearance between the top/bar for him to weld or I will have to wait until the top comes off in the spring.

Either way, the K5 is really coming together, 95% due in part to this board's members and advice...

It won't really be together until springtime, but all of the parts are waiting...

Glad you're happy with it. If i remeber right, the direction mention haven the top on when putting in the bars. For proper alighment.
