CA legal carb
I'm broke in my new motor this weekend between the rain showers. But I was unable to install my new Edelbrock 1406 carb. My truck is a '81 and it has an EGR. THe EGR was in the way and I couldn't bolt up the new carb, so I had to run the stock one which is not as wide. And the old one suxs. Does anyone have an aftermarket carburetor on there EGR equipped truck? I looked into Holley and Edelbrock but they are only smog legal up to 1980 and I would rather not deal with a non C.A.R.B. certified carburetor. Any info would be great.

Edelbrock makes an egr adapter # 1476 that should let you use the 1406. Here's what the edelbrock site says
EGR Adapter #1476 Allows EGR valve to clear #1400 carb on #3701/#3706 manifolds or on OEM with Edelbrock carburetor. It should work with the 1406 - I think they're the same size. Otherwise, edelbrock has qjets that are smog legal but they're a little pricey.
