Just wondering how much should I be really be asking?
1986 Chevy Stepside with the Silverado package. The truck is Frost White w/charcoal interior, it has PW, PDL, AC, CC, TLT, and a rear cargo lamp. The truck is lowered 5/4 and has Appliance FineWires on it wrapped in brand new BFG's. The truck has the factory engine which is a 305ci V8 and it has 111k miles on it and runs good. The truck has no rust and the only problem is that it smokes a little on start up and sometimes before it is warmed up. I've been asking $6900 and have varied the price somewhat down to $6200 before and saw some more inquiries. I guess my question is that should I have to fix it up more or should I just give up and sell my blazer? I've had lots of trade offers for mustangs(80's/90's), jeeps(98/99) and a camaro(96) but I just wasn't interested because they were not as nice. I've been offered 4500 cash, and one offer of $6500 but like usual when it came time for payment the guy flaked. I don't look at NADA because I consider it an outdated guide, I sold my 85' SWB 2wd for $7800 two years ago and NADA said it was only worth 3k. I'd just like to see some opinions, and idea....thanks

I don't think your asking price of 6500 is unreasonable if the truck as is good as it looks in the pictures!

heres some more pictures....and suprisingly it is really nice, after I buffed the paint out a little and put some elboy grease into it, being almost all original paint it really looks like a new paint jop from 5 feet.

Wow! Nice truck. I think you are asking a reasonable price. Those guides take into consideration average wear and tear, rust, and so forth I believe. You have something definitely a step or two above average. I'd slap some big ARE torq thrust IIs and stab a 350 in there for good measure. Good luck with it!

Do I think it's worth 6500? Maybe. From the looks of the pics and your description I would say probably so.
Do I think your asking to much? If it's not selling it could be your price or sometimes it's just the market your in. I have had trucks sit for a while at a price that I knew wasn't out of line. Then all at once I get buyers flocking in. I say change your market. I don't know where you have had it advertised at, but try www.traderonline.com or Ebay and see what happens....

Dang Blue. That's an awful nice truck for no one to have snatched it up already. Killer stance and well equipped. I had a dark brown 78 step with similar stance. I used to have my eye on a white 85 step that was kept up real nice.
The wires on a step are a different look but not bad at all. As to whether you should sell the Blazer instead? Gee bud. I like the step but I also like 2wd Blazers. It's your call. A tough one too! Looks like you are maybe in Washington? I can't tell. If you were a mite closer maybe I could trade ya out of that one.

You have a real nice truck and I have seen it in the Truck Trader and I am surprised you haven't sold it yet. The Portland area including the SW Washington area which includes your Longview Washington area has had one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation the past +3 years, which may have some bearing on why it hasn't sold at $6500. Bring it down to the Portland Swap meet, April 1-3 and it might spark some interest. You also might chance it on Ebay as well. Good Luck!

That is a nice truck. If i had the money i would for sure. Theres alot into it as well you can tell. Then the looks of the pictures and what you have listed are well worth the 6500.

I dunno. Its got a high milage 305, sure its got that much money into it. But its gonna be hard finding buyers.
I got mine for 5500 and it was in that shape, but with a new motor and tranny. Just food for thought.

When I saw this truck on CL, I thought it was a bit high? I guess it all depends on the buyer though. Since it is more "rare" than a fleet side it should bring more money, but I thnk they are more "rare" becuase most people prefer fleet? You don't see many swb's for sale so it is desireable in that respect. Not knocking the truck at all btw.
I've seen swb's here on the list go for much less than that with a lot more work into them. I can't remember his user name, but a guy in Texas sold his swb and bought a blazer and I think he sold his for $5500 and it looked realy nice with new(er I think) paint, big wheels, roll pan, front roll pan (or something to that effect), newer hot engine, etc. I might be wrong on some of these things, but I do remember thinking I wish I had $5500 when I saw it for sale. Just my $.02. Oh, and I think I sent you something through CL about a blazer...

Your right fleetsides are more popular, I sold my 85' which was in comparable condition....it didn't have as nice of paint but had a better motor and a nicer seat. I believe that sold for $7800. As far as how much money the stepper will bring, I just figure it's about finding the right buyer...always is. And unless the truck was the same or close to the same year you can't really compare them all that much, as a 73 SWB won't bring as much as a 78 SWB if they were in the same condition. I have an appraisal that I got and supposedly the truck is worth 7500-8000....but I don't really care, and from what I've seen around here I think $6500-7000 is pretty fair as well, so I'll just leave it at that price. It's not really like it will decline in value.
Kev, I believe you did send me something....but I am really not into red but thanks for responding.

I think you got a pretty decent price on it. Maybe a tad bit high for your market but I could be wrong. I would just let is sit for awhile and see what happens. I would drop a beefed up 350 SB in ther pronto but other then that very nice truck!

Also, it's a nice truck...whether it's worth $7500-$8000..well...that's all in the eye of the beholder, if ya know what I mean. Then again, I have my truck up for sale for $5000 (But the only thing stock on it is the paint) |

Lowblazer, I really don't want to sell the blazer as It has what I have wanted since I was 5....yes the exact one in my avatar. I saw it around town a lot and came to love it and I seriously don't think theres any amount of money that could make me sell it, I don't even care if someone offered me 20k for it and told me that I could build another one and just paint it the same color, it just wouldn't be the same, you know. Sorry 'bout that.
