I had to take my 1406 2 steps richer on cruise and power (1455 rods) and to orange step up springs to get it running right.
Out of the box it acted starved when attempting to accelerate not even at WOT but just getting on it at speed (like say passing). And that was after going through the fuel system totally. Removed miles of ancient crappy rubber line where it was plumbed for saddle tanks, took screen off pickup, new pump. In short everything new from pickup to carb and it still ran super lean. My engine is stock except for full length headers, a edelbrock 2101 performer mild rv cam and a procomp hei, not exactly a tricked out race motor by any means. Supposedly rebuilt around 30K miles ago according to P.O.
