Whistling vent window making me crazy!
I have completely restored my truck, all new interior, carpet and insulation on the floor. Both of my vent windows are brand new, and the drivers side makes all kind of noise. I have done everything possible to seal it better with no luck. Finally I installed a different used vent window and guess what happened...the other vent window started to leak! I have come to the conclusion that it is not the windows fault. I am going to put the new one back in. Why is this happening I am ready to give up.Any suggestions?

i siliconed mine up. no more blow-by, except for the regular windows, of course. if you dont use them, might give it a try.

When I reconditioned mine, I found I had to check the chrome piece that holds the glass to make sure that I had all the bends out of it and that it fit properly into the new rubber before I installed it.

These windows are new, not reconditioned. I have done everything possible to seal them. When I switched windows the other one started whistling,if I crack any of the windows it stops, Is there pressure building up in the cab because it is so much more airtight than it used to be? If I open up one of the floor vents it doesn't change anything. Rather frustrating!

RShaips... I had a very similar problem with whistling wind noise. I had installed new door seals and tweaked the vent windows for a tight seal. Also replaced window channel and the horizontal pieces on the door at bottom of window... I had the cab almost air tight!! ( Not quite air tight as I had removed the outside/inside air flapper on the pass. side; to enable the air cond system to always use outside air....) Still had the wind noise which changed proportionally when I had the windows cracked or the heater/air cond fan on....
I drilled a 1/2 hole on the bottom of each rear cab corner... I then reamed these holes out to about 5/8 or so diameter. Inserted a tapered punch into the holes; moving the punch rearward thereby creating a sort of venturi that would extract the air from the cab in proportion to the speed of the vehicle.... This damped the wind whistle by at least 1/2 ... I did wind up further enlarging the holes which gave further improvement. Added benefit is that the heater/ air cond blower now puts out considerably more air and is also quieter. I feel a side benefit of these holes is that the holes aid in removbing any water that might collect in the cab corners.....

That is a good idea, but don't you think that drilling a hole in the cab corner is also another place for moisture to get in?Would it maybe be better to drill it higher up around where the box rail is?Maybe even around the dome light and have it exit around a cargo light with a slight down turn?Just my .02

I actually do have holes in each corner, they are just covered up with insulation and carpet. Maybe I will try cleaning out an area to let some air move thru. Thanks

Apparently, your exhaust is not loud enough.

Dont know what year they started but the 72 year has a vent in the B pillar just below the door striker.

I was thinking about the door vent thing too. I put a set in my 67 from a junkyard 72 and my doors close MUCH easier now when the windows are up. I have bad seals anyway, so I'm not sure what it would do for your "whislte" but it may help.

I thought about that and was wondering if that would help.
