Center cap mounting screws
I went by the dealer today thinking I would by a set of the screws to mount the center caps on rallye rims. I need all 12. I shied away when he quoted $4 each.
$4 EACH!!!! Thats $48 for all 12!!!!! We talked a little about trucks while he was looking up part #'s, he has an '85 K5 and he said that was him floating me the best deal he could as they listed for over $5 each in his catalog. $5 EACH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hell, he even said I should try Lowes or Home Depot. I guess my point is, does anyone know where they are available from for a reasonable price, or at least know what thread they are so I can source them, like 1/4-20 x 1" or 3/8-16 x 7/8" or something like that? Also, I have seen two different types, what I know as a type "F" thread cutter and what I know as a "tri-lobular" thread forming. Either ones would work for me.

That is a little high.........if they are anything like the ones on my '84 C10......you better mix up the screws (put two different head sizes with the same size threads).
Twice now somebody has tried to steal my center caps.....once at Walmart and once at Best Buy. |

Kevin, i got mine at O-reillys (or autozone or whatever parts house is in your area), they usually have a small rack or nuts and bolts and they happen to have a set of like 3 or 4 per package.. dont remember price. but certainly better than $5 each.

We have Schucks and NAPA localy. I'll give them a try if nothing else.
We also have Tacoma Screw which has pretty much everything, but I need to know the thread pitch. They are also a little pissy when you buy in small quantites, I think they are used to comercial customers ordering 1000's.

When I picked up my rally's they had center caps, but the bolts/screws were all mismatched. Some were the originals, some were not, and all were rusty. I know they are not "correct", but I just stopped by my local hardware store and purchased some stainless steel hex head bolts for mine. They work great and they will never rust.
Just an idea..... Mike |
