my turn to vent
today driving home from my friends house on the highway i hear this knock come from the engine so i limp it to the house and i am pretty sure i am about to throw a rod, no the part that i am really pissed off about is that i leave for boot camp in 2 weeks and the north texas board meet is in 2 days and i really wanted to take my truck but looks like i aint anymore, so now i am pretty much helpless because i do not have the time to rebuild the engine, i am thinking about pulling the engine and have it rebuilt while i am in boot camp but i also thought about just yanking the engine and putting a 396 in it right now i am just really mad and short tempered am not exactly sure what to do, thanks for letting me vent still look forward to seeing all you texas guys this weekend i am going to see if i can borrow my friends dads 58 impala

Don't make a hasty decision due to your short time frame. You should have that truck for years and a decision on the engine is a big decision. Sorry to hear about the truck troubles, good luck with boot camp.

i do have the 396 it came out of a 71 truck but has no intake or distributor, for the most part it has been a money thing on the big block but know i guess i have and excuse to put it in, either way i have to rebuild the 350 in the truck or the 396 i think i will go with the big block

I have a cast iron intake from a 79 454. You can have it, if it will fit your 396.

I agree with the bb, since you already have it. Good luck with boot camp, just remember to keep your head down and don't get noticed.
