Did Gm ever build one, I saw one on the pipe line and was told its original, is this true at all?

let me know if so and where I could find some pics

GM never built one, but a carriage company in Dallas, TX did. There are several around my area. I looked at one up close in a junkyard, and the conversion was a sloppy one. Lots of bondo in the roof, poor quality welding, etc. The interior was poorly made as well.

I have seen some homebuilt ones on this board also.

I was looking at an 85 ex cab short bed locally but it sold the day I first noticed it.

The one I looked at used a generic rubber seal on the side windows, and flat glass. The seal was open at the bottom, like it just came off a big roll, instead of being one continuous piece of rubber.

There was a LOT of bondo in the roof. I thought at first that it was something made locally by someone lacking skill, then I found the sticker in the doorjamb for the company in Dallas that did the work. I really wish I'd had a camera with me.

I was really disappointed because I had always liked the few I saw around town.

GM didn't offer an extended cab from the factory. They offered 3+3 crew cabs instead, although only in the higher payload models.
