My point exactly. It takes a whole lot more to make one "close" to new than you guys are thinking. If you try to do it a little bit at a time you might end up with a nice truck but it will still never be like new again.....

Low mileage doesn't make it one-of-a-kind. Things like factory independent rear suspension or a 427 big block or suede interior do.

Even with 17k on the clock, I still wouldn't pay $15k+ for it.

personally, i would take that 100% unmolested truck, and promptly molest it. if there's one thing i hate when trying to make a truck my way, its having to fix someone else's screw ups to do it.

So what if there are no other 17K original '87 GM trucks in existence except for this one?? That would then make it one of a kind. You don't need to rip apart a sellers description...it is merely an expression of what he feels is accurate about his truck. The truck is a survivor, hasn't been modified, altered, or messed with its entire life...that in my opinion makes it unique or one of a kind. Try to build an exact replica for 15K...unless you have a large stash of NOS parts laying around, and an pretty clean canvas to start on...you won't be able to do it. Like I said earlier...unless you have restored a vehicle...you will have no clue how much time, money, and work it entails.

Yeah Jeff I agree with how easy it is to SPEND that kind of money on a truck you are restoring/modifying , but the difference is that you have a tailor made, to your specs, truck when your done. Since trucks really dont fall into that "numbers matching" bullcrap (for the most part) .I tell people that want to have one done that they should do it the way they would have ordered it if they had a blank sheet. Thats basically what the term resto-mod means and what most guys are doing with streetrods that they build themselves. Even though i love these trucks I never do nut & bolt restos because of the cost and do tend to sell everything I get done .
Do yours the way YOU want and don't feel a bit guilty. Personally i do feel these guys on ebay are a bit nutty. just my .02 and I believe I'm down to .76 out of my original dollar. DAVE

well I bougt mine for $3500 and it was the same other than red and black it had 45,000 miles on it when I bought it it was mint and it was an 87 GMC short wide "luck"

This truck appears to be just about perfect...and it is almost completely original...which a vehicle can only be once in its entire life.
