alternator and high valve covers
any of you guys have trouble mounting your alternator after you put on high valve covers. I would appreciate picture of any modifications you all have done because I am having trouble figuring this one out . Using the orginal brackets on a 350 thanks dave

Not sure what year truck you are working on, but '72 (and maybe '71 also?) trucks have a longer adjustment arm for the alternator that normally allows enough adjustment for tall valve covers. You will have to figure out the new belt length.

Attached is what the longer adjustment slot alternator brackets look like. This one is an extra--$10 plus shipping.

thanks for all the input so far but my problems the alternator with the original bracket does not stand far enough from the the block . the back of the alternator hits the front of the valve covers with out at least 1 1/2 inch spacing. I am running a short pump is that the problem. thanks dave
