Ol' Blue sprung a leak today. Time for a radiator. Where can I get a good OEM type replacement at a reasonable price? Anybody had any bad radiator purchasing experiences?

I wish I knew! I purchased one last year, for my Blazer, from radiator.com. I ask 3 times if it was a Modine "made in the USA " radiator,... all times they replied yes. When it arrived it was some piece of crap from Brazil. After searching the auto parts stores with no luck, I installed it anyway. The trans cooler fittings were in a different spot, so I had to grind the shroud. Also the lower hose fitting didn't have the "correct" bend to it. This made the hose rub the frame. I think my '71 swb truck will be getting a "BeCool" radiator from Jegs. Good Luck. I will be watching this thread.

I just purchased one off of ebay for $133 plus the ride. I won't be home until wednesday to check it out. It has a lifetime warranty on it. I'll let you know how it looks and performs once I get it in this week.

Yeah, many of those radiator dot whatever sites sell foreign made stuff. I can't talk specifics on their quality, but I fear thinner metal, poor brazing, few fins per inch, and other such low quality features that enable low prices (along with the cheaper overseas labor). I want American made in my GM trucks. I'll only accept foreign made if it is a Japanese made radiator for my FJ40.

Check with both local auto parts stores and radiator shops for made in USA radiators. Usually $200-$300 dollars, depending upon the rows and whether with a trans cooler. My local NAPA sources Modine 4-rows for ~$275.

I bought one of those radiators off ebay for $165.00 delivered to my door. It was a 4 row, correct bottom fitting, had trans cooler inside( won't need that with a 4 spd.), and it was a Modine rad. to boot. Fit was perfect, and it only took 3 days to get here. Hope this helps?

My ebay radiator was a Modine too. 4 core, fit fine, cooler lines were good, bottom bung was angled properly.

Cost was 133 bucks. They only do overnite shipping. Total was 150 or 160 to my door next day (I can't remember which price it ended up being).

Man I was gonna suggest the www.radiator.com route cause thats the one I took last year. 4 Core rad shipped to my door and it was at my house the next day no extra shipping. I had no problems whatsoever with the fit on mine and I had never heard of anybody not having one before either. oh well $hit happens every once in a while i guess. I'm all about american made but when the price of the overseas one is half of the price or even less than the american one I myself and I'm sure other people cannot afford to buy the pricier of the 2.

I think I got the same one as you. It looks to be a really nice radiator, I just haven't had a chance to install it yet. I'll probably get to it this weekend.

I like radiator.com too! Just got one for my burb. It was cheap, and fit perfect! And it was here in 2 days.

Well I found a radiator on EBay from Radiator.com. $133 + 15 for shipping. I called them up and asked for a 3 core with heater outlet instead of the 4 core with no outlet that I bid on. "No problem" they said. They didn't tell me I had to be home to sign for it so I didn't get it until the second day when I left a note on the door. I Unboxed it and it had no heater outlet and was a imported piece of sh*t! I was afraid I would bust it packing it back up.

I called them back and they said they didn't have any with the outlet. Hung up and called again and they did. They came and picked it up and left me a Delco/Modine 3 core with the heater outlet. Damn thing weighs twice as much as that imported POS and looks like it will fit fine. Bottom line is they sell all kinds. I wanted to stay as original OEM as possible and I guess I ended up getting lucky.
