Blazer progress.
Well since buying this rig from a fellow board member, I have been working hard to get it ready for the trail. I have been doing mostly welding and sanding and priming. It will eventually be all Trator Chassis black. And hopefully very duarable. i plan to use this sucker for trailing. here is a link to some of the progress. i already posted some other stuff a week or so ago about the interior and the driver side sanding and priming. When i got this rig it had two rear quarters that were completely snaded and left bare. Plus i have been doing some rust repair along the way. So for the time being, here is where I am. Enjoy.
Any questions feel free to ask. http://www.southernbowties.com/phpBB...pic.php?t=2259

What's the lift/tire combo? Looks wicked.
Building a full cage for it? Family wheeling at it best! Great progress. Last edited by vtblazer; 04-10-2005 at 08:09 AM. |

Thanks for all the replies guys. The lift is about 6" with an additional 3" body for about 9". the tires and wheels are 39.5"X15X15 on 12x15" rims. It does sit really tall in the driveway.
I plan to run it with just a bolt in roll bar. I have one that mounts to the rear behind the tubs so it gives protection for the driver passenger as well as the rear seat passengers also. No extreme rock crawlin' for me. just a play rig to go muddin' and trail climbin' with. My family and I love to go camping. So it will spnd most of it's time near a lake or river somewhere. yes that is my son, Cam (he's 5), he loves the truck. He named it for me. "Rusty". Funny story is he named it that, not because it had some rust on it. He named it after the horse on Seinfeld that pulled the carriage. you know the one that Kramer fed a whole can of Beef-O-Reeno. "Ohhh Rusty!!". I still have alot of work to do. but it is coming along. thanks for the encouraging words. it helps to get feedback to keep me motivated.

hey Smokie, you've done some terrific work on "Rusty" i'm really interested in your build because it's along the lines of what i'd like to do with my '71. i plan on trailing running with it also. i noticed at the end of that link, you were wondering about which mirrors to use... i was planning on using door peep mirrors. they don't mount to the body, they mount to the frame around the wing window... i figured that when i was offroad, it would be easy to just unbolt them and even if they are left on, they don't stick out that far... golden state parts has them if you want to look, it's part number 18-183p. anyways, keep up the good work on the K5 i'm looking forward to see more progress pics
