Quarter's On
After sandblasting the entire quarter, inside and out it was time for the metal etching primer and after that, the epoxy primer.
Cleaned up and primered the inner rocker while I was at it. Got both sides completed by Sunday. Here's the new rust free quarter during the test fit. ![]() Still need to prime the area of the bed where the welds to the bedsides have been ground down and cleaned up. Looking good with the progress you've made so far. Are you going blue or the original bronze color?

Hey vtblazer, nice stuff! This is exactly what I want to do to my 71 Jimmy. I discovered a ton of bondo in both rear bedside panels down below the tail lights and I happen to have 72 parts blazer with perfect bed panels. It's the old If I could make one rig out of the strengths of the two.....anyway how much cutting do you have to do to remove the bed panel? Thanks for your advice

Maybe some spot weld cutting/removing around the lower rear door pillar also. Having the rocker out of the way will help to. Last edited by vtblazer; 06-22-2005 at 09:02 AM. |

Re: Little Body Work on the Blazer/Tub
OK - I will answer the 3+ year old question...
The items pictured (I had to enlarge it to see what he was talking about) are known as the Blazer/Jimmy Rocker Box Supports and Floor Supports. They weren't available 3 years ago though... They can be found through the vendors and here is a link and pix of them installed. Top two items - http://www.gmcpauls.com/Patch_Panels.htm |

Re: Little Body Work on the Blazer/Tub
Body mounts would be my thought on your door problems. I have a lot of the floor pan rockers etc. Cut out of mine. My doors close fine but I had windshield frame sag eventhough I had braced prior to cutting. I shimmed the old body mounts eventhough I know when I put the new mounts in it will change again. But it helped me with my alignment Seems like you got a pretty good handle on it

![]() Had to get it out of the shop for the winter, it's still sitting outside under cover. The only thing I did prior to the cover up was to prime the bare metal areas to protect against rust. There's currently way to many iron's in the fire and this one doesn't really need to be done for 5/6 years anyway. It's for my daughter when she's 16 and right now she's only 10. |
