Im new to the bagged suspension i have a 64 half ton longbed that i would like to bag. i dont want it to Lay rocker i would like it to sit about an inch from the ground. Since i dont know to much about gettin all of the right parts needed and what mods i have to do to my frame, so would you guys PLEASE help me out here so i get a good set up and a great end result.

Well the hardest part is going to be Zing the frame. It is neccessary to lay frame. You could do a crossmember drop but from what I have gathered it is easier to just Z it.

first things first! What size tire you plan on running....overall height? That will let you know what you will have to do to get it to sit where you want it to!

OP mentioned he doesn't want it sitting on the frame.

I thought he said he didnt want it on the rocker, he wanted it an inch off the ground. I took it that he wanted the rocker an inch of the ground which would be laying frame.

My rockers hang like an inch lower than the frame on my 64. I will be running a 28 inch high tire.

If you are running a 28inch tall tire in the front and keeping your wheel wells uncut then it won't be an inch off the ground! On my 63 suburban my body sits about 1/2" off the ground and I have about 3-4 inches of tire sticking through my wheel well. If you don't want to cut I recommend running a 18inch rim with 245-40-18. That will get you 2 inchs lower with out cutting the wheel well. You will need drop spindles. Switch out your ball joints to 73-88 and run 3 inch drop spindles. If you want to see pics let me know.

What size air tank an compressor do i need? im gonna be gettin slam spec rs72's for bags.

I'm running 2 - 5 gallon tanks with 4 1/2" ports on each with a Engine driven compressor. You make the call. Are you going to play alot?

of course im gonna play around alot im a 17 yr old kid. lol I was thinking of an 8 gal. tank with 8 1/2" ports and for a compressor i was thinkin of useing a Viair 380 200 psi compressor becuase i dont have the $$ to spend on an engine driven system. Im gonna be running 3/8 lines and valves but im not sure what valves i need and how many. could you help me out on that one? Thanks for all of the help, Aaron

Since you are going to play....get more air. Run like 2 6gallons or 2 5 gallons. Save your money and buy a engine driven compressor. Or go to a junk yard and pull a york off of a old ford or volvo. You could probably pick up one for under $50. And if you are going to play with it get 4- 1/2" valves. Run 1/2 line! SMC/Parker valves are probably one of thebest valves out. If I were you i would buy a 4 link and either get F9000 and mount over the axel or mount some double convulated bags in a 2:1 ratio. You need to crossmember drop your front, run 3 inch drop spindles.

How do i hook up the york and around what year ford do i get it off of? Im going to z the frame not drop the crossmember.

Also What valves do i use for airing up and what valves do i use for dumping and how many of each. I dont wanna go side to side or anything special i just wanna go up and down with the rear and front.

The york compressor you can get from I beleive 70's ford trucks. Check out www.pirate4x4.com I think that is it. or ask slammed67 on this board! As for valves run 8 valves... 4 1/2" up and 4 3/8" dumps. This will give you the ablity to go side to side but you can wire it up to lift the whole front. Do not run front and back with only 2 valves each. the truck will lean and will handle poorly. You will have to get 3 inch blocks for the rear and do some fabbing to get your truck down on a 28" tall tire.

Ok I was planning on the 3" blocks and im doing a 10" Bridge step notch from suicide doors. What other fabbing will i have to do? so on the valve i do one 1/2 fill and 1 3/8 dump at each bag and do i put them in any speical order? How do i set the valves up right? Do you have any diagrams for the lines and wires of how to set it up? I really apprechate the help man, Aaron

Aaron do a search on here for the diagrams there is one some where on this board. Valves you do as you said. Inlet to 1/2" valves to T fitting, then your 3/8" dump valve, on the other end of the T run to your bag! Before you order that bridge kit make sure your trailing arm is not going to hit your frame when laid out. Take your rear spring out and look at where the trailing arm will cross up with the frame. Make sense?

No not the panhard bar, your trailing arm might hit your frame.

Ive been looking at valves and i dont have any clue what valves to get for what and im just getting confused. Could you tell me What ones you are using and or which ones i should get.

I bought my valves from ***************** When I first was shopping I heard nothing but good things about them. I think they are gong through some growing pains right now and service is a bit slow, but prices are pretty good!
