3/4 ton to 1/2
My latest lead on parts for my '69 is from my next door neighbour! It turns out that his friend has a 72 gmc and is looking for parts. He was looking at my uncovered truck (no box or front clip) and wants my rear axle. His 72 is a half ton. Will the two rear ends interchange? I am hoping to switch from the trailing arms back. I don't need a 3/4 ton anyway. Also, what changes do i have to make to the front suspension?

The rear diffs should swap(both coil im guessing). The track bar,& frame brackets are different from 1/2 to 3/4,so you need to swap them also. On the front,to convert to 1/2 susp, you need to replace the lower a arms(use 71-72),& balljoints,& you can bolt the spindles on. Also go for the 71 up tierod assys,& you may have to change the center link(again 71 up). Good luck.....69 longhorn.

Old 69-
I'm in the process of the conversion right now. All the parts mentioned above need done. Even the frame mount for the tracking bar! They are different between the two. Early classic sells a real nice adjustable panhard bar, but the mount I suppose is purely a junk yard item. It is the only thing holding up my swap. Sucks to forget a part when you buy all the rest!!! Good luck
