Cowl hood owners, gotta question?
In my recent gathering of parts I decided to break down and get the goodmark cowl hood. I noticed there isnt the perfreated openings across the top of the hood, makes sence it would look silly but I got to thinking. Air for the heater/vents comes from the cowl. If you take away the openings it cant flow as much air through the vents. Did the hood decrease your HVAC effectivness? I'd typically put it on and see but I still need to get the new box sides since I want to do it all at the same time.

Plenty of air makes it down the cowl portion, same reasoning behind a cowl hood. The windshield creates a high pressure area in front of it, and the cowl catches the air and directs it to the engine (if you have the cowl enclosed for such a thing) Due to this high pressure, the vents also get plenty of air.

cowl hood
i have a goodmark hood and I have not had any problems with test runs, but we havent got to the main show yet, plus when mounted you still have a good gap in there.

Thanks for clearing it up for me. I did pull it out of the box a tad and noticed it does have a provision for air to get sucked down the vents via the cowl opening but I'm just a paraniod person. It gets too hot here in the summer and too cold in the winter not to have the blower functioning well.

This a picture of the hood on my Dad's truck. It is a Harwood Fiberglass hood.

Not to Hijack but on that Harwood Hood does it use the stock hinges. Also how is the fit. I almost bought a lift off Harwood Hood for my 76.
Thanks again :hj:

I had an Unlimited 3" cowl hood on my truck years ago, it didn't have the louvers, and it was never a problem.
On a side note, don't buy an Unlimited hood...JUNK.
