Rubber mat:
Since I am going to be putting in new seats, I thought I would replace the
old and torn rubber floor mat. I decided to keep the rubber mat instead of carpet. It just feels better to me, like one big floor mat. Plus super easy to clean. I was looking around for a new mat and found them at all the vendors. Anyone have any quality issues I should be aware of? Are they all the same? It would be nice it they would also cover the floor under the seat, but I think they all have tails. Has anyone seen one that was full? The pic on Brothers looks full, but It is the same pic they use for all of the mats.

Road noise:
At the same time I should replace the padding and try to cut down on the road noise. What is the best stuff to use? The Jute padding, or something more high tech. Where does most of the noise come through - the floor, firewall, doors, glass?

I know allot of guys on here have done this and I am looking for some advise. Thanks!!!!!

All of the above! The firewall and floor, especially the firewall, will let in a LARGE amount of heat too if left bare. Mice ate my firewall insulation and it smelled bad, so I pulled it all out.... holy heck if you couldn't feel every degree of heat comin from that motor.... I bought some of that thin flexible insulation from lowes. I think its only 1/4" thick, and it's silver on both sides, I'm going to try that this winter if I ever get around to it. A lot of folks use the spray in sound deadner stuff on the inside of the doors and the back of the cab and something like dynomat on the floors and firewall. Let us know what you do and take pics

Check the board members, but LMC and JC whitney have a full coverage, extra thick vinyl/rubber floor mat with some padding installed. When we redo my 1970, that's wht it's going to get. I will add the factory type foam and rubber/asphalt sound deadner underneath, got that stuff from mother truckers,covers most of front and rear area and you don't have to cut it. I will leave the more expensive cut to fit stuff for those who have more patience than I have, I think this will work good enough.

Coollizard looks like cool stuff, but you also need a special sprayer... It says it doesnt work with a paint sprayer, bummer.

Anyone used the mat from LMC yet?

you don't have to spray it on ,i use a small trim roller and regular paint brushes to apply it and get good results. it has the consistancy of a thick milkshake cleans up with soap and water

Where did you apply it? I was thinking floor and the backs of the door panels...

Also, I called LMC, they now only have the rubber floor with tails...

JC Whitney has the vinyl with a backing of some type full floor 150 dollars. I have heard that the vinyl type are a slick feel though.

there this stuff called brown bread you can get off ebay. It like Dyno-mat but thinner and cheaper. Members have had good review with it. All you need is a roller and a heat gun. Just make sure you clean the surface first.

I have the rubber floor mat in my truck and used Dyno-mat under it....I have been quite happy with the results so far......interior noise is down from what it used to be with the original floor mat.....I also sprayed a good amount of rubberized undercoating inside of my doors......Paul

i'm in the middle of a streetrod project and it's being applied to the floor(inside and out) the inside of the firewall the quarters and inside the ddoors

sorry for the hijack ...can you remove the stock firewall pad without destroying the tabs that hole it in ??

removing the original....cut the ends off the tabs that hold it in (if they are plastic) if they are rubber, skirt em with wd-40 and push or work them thru from the opposite side. New ones (exactly like the originals-rubber) are available from chevyduty. That way you wont damage a good "original" insulation.....
