to much rake?
what do you guys think? Do I have to much rake? I think I'd like it more with about an 1" or maybe 2" less. Very slight rake is preferred, Level is OK, but rear lower than the front will not cut it. These springs are supposed to be 4" drop but I'm thinking not. I'm going to try some different springs today.

I like it like that as well. My stock one is too much.
Are those new springs? If so, they will probably sag a bit after some usage. |

Personnaly, I'd drop it 1-1/2" to 2" more in the rear after driving it a awhile if it doesn't settle out close to level.

I agree that it does not look bad as it sits now.. but 1-2 more down in the back would look just awesome. Nice truck btw.

I am agree with you, a little rake is good. What if you are going to haul heavier stuff?
Did you measure the height before installing the rear springs?

I did measure the stock height but don't know what I did with the numbers.....
Don't plan on doing alot of "heavy" hauling, mostly just hauling @ss....

Nice truck. IMO, too much rake for the drop front. Get the gap between the tire and wheelwell the same front and back and you will have a perfect 1 1/2" - 2" rake.

Put some bags of cement or something else heavy and then look at it. I think it looks good the way it is, but still think it would look better a lil lower in the rear.

Looks like your back tires are fatter than the fronts....maybe that's pushing it over the edge. Most people I've talked to that have the 2.5/4 inch drop said their rear is higher than they like.

255/60/17's on 17x8's in the front and 285/60/17's on 17x9.5's in the back (ala Copperhead). I think the fronts are around 29" tall and the back's are almost 31" tall.... maybe this is why... thanks mplex2000.

Also, is the bed wood installed? That could count for the higher higth in back.

I was going to mention the tire size. Also, the first pic exadurates the height in back. The sunlite coming in through the floorless bed makes the gap obviouse, while it is almost impsible to see what the gap is in front.
IMO, it look sbad ass like that...but I think rake is needed. I think cars and trucks look funny perfectly level...onless it is some plush girly land yaght like the town car I been reluctantly driving for a year now. |

I think it looks decent, but a bit more drop in the rear would level it out.
Let us know what the wheel back space F & R is that you used, and also who the tire manufacturer is (Nitto?). I just did an ECE 4/6 drop and am probably going with the same wheel and similar tire combo as you (except 275/60/17 rear). The 285/60 tire is extra tall and adds to the rake issue. Very nice ride! |

I like a little "nose down" attitude on the trucks, & say she looks good as is. I agree with all the guys, & will say again.....if you dont have the box floor in, i would do that 1st, & also let the springs "settle" a bit. other than that, I wouldnt drop that more that 1 extra inch on the rear. Im still workin on 1 more inch on the nose of my 69.....sweet truck, 69L

thanks for all the input guys. Well I just finished putting the "cargo" chevelle springs on and it actually raised the truck up several inches....
As far as the floor goes, it's steel. The only part that isn't there are the wheel tubs. I'm in the process of a mini-tub. So the weight won't be much different once I put them back in. Also, the springs were used when I got them so the "settle" factor may not make that much difference either. It's close to being just like I like it with the other springs. I guess I'll start looking for some 1" or maybe 2" lowering blocks. Anybody got some?

Hey what size tires and wheels? 17-9.5 rear 17-8..5 frt 285 rear tire/ Looks like a touch lower would be dead on level. Looks good, Lamar.

Is your swaybar already installed? Mine raised my front end @ 3/4"-1". Just a thought. Your rake tooks great to me, very nice truck by the way. Doug
