I want to drop my 60 Apache 3" or so. It is equipped with torsion bar front suspension. Can I lower it with torsion adjustment alone, and is this a good way to lower it? Thanks!

yes you can and it is a good way to do it. if you check out chevytalk.com there is guy on there with a 62' that did it that way and could give you some more advice on how many turns = how many inches of drop

Torsion adjustment is the method in which spring rate is achieved. Simply cranking them down leads to a wimpy spring rate and thus a horrible ride and poor handling characteristics. I'm not intimately familiar with the Apache suspension so I don't have any specific suggestions... I would look at ways to raise the existing suspension as a whole, which will let you keep the spring rate because you're not changing the torsion bar adjustment.

I haven't done this on a chevy, but I raised my toyota using the torsion bars and it stiffened it BIG TIME.

I imagine trying to lower your truck 3 inches will take away ALL of your spring rate, and you will feel like your riding around on a trampoline...

I've lowered about half the mini trucks in my area. I adjust the torsions bars down an equal amount on each side. It doesn't affect the ride that bad. A few inches is real tolerable.

ECE makes drop spindles for that truck if you want to go top notch.
