Fuel line shouild not move, sounds like the solder joint, where the fuel line goes through the plate that goes onto the fuel tanks has gone bad. This would account for your other trouble of the float banging against the tank. You would need to clean the fuel residue off and resolder the joint. I am not sure what type of solder is in the joint now, but I would imagine it is a silver solder, or perhaps a silicon bronze brazing rod may do the trick.
