Rear shackle ?..72 vs 73 differances
Hey all. Quick easy question for somebody that knows...
What is the differance between the rear shackle on the rear leaf spring on a 72 versus a 73-87 4x4? Assume both trucks are 1/2 tons. Long story short, a freind of a friend of a friend is parting out his '74 and he's got a shackle flip kit on it. If I remember correctly, it's not a direct bolt in, but it's close, so with a little fab work I could score a sweet flip kit cheap for my '72  .

if you are willing to do some fab work then it shouldnt be a problem, but i am pretty sure they are a close fit.

The rear brackets will not have the correct offset. They will be about 3/4 inch wider on each side. A cheap alternative is to use the front spring hanger from the rear of a 2 wheel drive. With a little drilling they work great, and you can give your shackle any angle you want.
