Edelbrock Carb question
Got a sweet deal on an Edelbrock performer intake/carburetor($50) from a guy at work. No problems with the intake. The carb is totally different. I put the sucker on and the truck starts right up but is flooding like crazy. I adjusted the mixture screws and that didnt seem to make a difference at all. I split the carb in half and on the side of the carb that would sit on the passengers side there is a loose spring just sitting in the housing. Its a larger size spring but there doesnt seem to be anything to hook it to. Is there something missing????

Re: Edelbrock Carb question
It sounds like the spring that should be under the accelerator pump piston. Just from what it sounds like. matt

Re: Edelbrock Carb question
Also check your floats. I've had mine mess up on me after a rebuild of gaskets. You can look at Edelbrock.com for rebuild specs.

Re: Edelbrock Carb question
Its a 1406 600cfm Edelbrock Performer carb. I called tech support at Edelbrock and they are sending me an owners manual and an installation guide. They tech said pretty much the same thing....that it is the spring for the accelerator pump but wasnt 100% sure

Re: Edelbrock Carb question
Was there a spring in the round hole on the driver's side of the carb, where the accelerator pumpgoes in? If not then that's where it goes. The onloy thing that is in the bowls of the carb are floats and needle, the jets for the primaries and the jets for the secondaries and a metal baffle piece on each side.
