Replacing dash questions
Anybody replace a dash before? I heard they are kinda tough to do when you have to remove all of the rivets up by the windshield. I was told by a friend that the easiest way is to cut through the slots under the dash pad and weld the new one in and bolt in the sides. Looking for some feedback from someone who has done this. Teeitup has a cab that I might buy but the dash is cut up pretty bad. I have a decent dash in my cab that I could cut out and weld in.

Re: Replacing dash questions
Not rivets.....They are SPOT-WELDS!! (About 30 of them)
I cut out my non-air dash and installed an A/C one, by cutting it on the slots!

Re: Replacing dash questions
My dash was hacked pretty good too. I cut it in the slots under the dash pad and it was surprisingly easy. Chris

Re: Replacing dash questions
WOW! I sure am glad I read this post. I was JUST getting ready to do it the HARD way (spot welds) for one of my buddys. I think I will go this route. It makes much more sense. Thanks guys, Mike

Re: Replacing dash questions
Here a link of when I removed my dash. I removed the whole dash. It's not that much harder than cutting under the dash pad.

Re: Replacing dash questions
Why not do it the right way and replace the whole panel. If the dash is apart anyway just pop out the windshield and drill the spot welds. With the dash gutted and the glass out, shouldn't take more than a couple hours to remove and replace. JMHO

Re: Replacing dash questions
Yea I cut this out. If The shild was out I would have drilled the spotwelds, but Im hanging it on the wall anyway.

It's a catastrophic success.

Re: Replacing dash questions
If I had it to do over I would probably slice the slots, as opposed to messing with the spot welds in the windshield.
