Re: are chevy 6 lugs all the same?

In terms of circle diameter, yes. In fact, I put (temporarily) modern 6-lug rims on my '60.

The part that didn't quite match was the size of the hole in the middle for the spindle to stick out of. The modern one was a hair smaller than the old one. Not a big deal with these rims, but it might matter with fancy alloys.

Agreed, some wheels need to be OPENED UP for lack of a better word
for the locking hubs to slide through them and bolt up, but the pattern
is the same as far as the bolt circle, what wheels are you thinking of ?

*Beware of the backspacing to clear things such as brakes / suspension

The ones that I got were from a 3/4 ton van. Butt ugly, but definitely cheap -- $15 each WITH TIRE

You can usually find these around $100 or less w/ out the rings
and centers, I have seen them go as low as $50 a set. (15 x 8)

I had problems with the spacing when i tried to put 94 alloys on a 77 k-10. they wanted to drag on the calipers.

Re: are chevy 6 lugs all the same?

All chevy 6 lug wheels ARE NOT THE SAME!!! Found that out the hard way. The standard 6 lug wheels on a pre 71 truck do not have the same internal contour so that when you bolt them onto a 4x4 chev Blazer, they will bind off on the front brake caliper when you tighten them. So I would assume you need to be careful with any 6 lug you consider for the stepback spacing.

Had a blazer on my 4 poster lift--tried to just push it off the ramp and thought the brakes were just rusted in place so I started towing the blazer off with my Kubota tractor--it towed the entire 4 poster lift with the blazer on it~~~~~~across the barn floor!

Re: are chevy 6 lugs all the same?

the bolt pattern is 6 on 5.5" center to center of opposing studs. same as lexus, toyota, some datsuns, and others im sure. the centerbores and offsets are another matter. i recently found out that the bolt patterns are somewhat standardized for most car companies. a few like mopar and some europeans use oddball patterns. i have an extra set of 17's from a lexus lx 470 that look ok. but i need adapters at about $40 each on the rear of my c5 to move them out an inch or so before i can run them.
