my 1968 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4 weighs 6250 with me in it, 1/2 tank of fuel and minimal tools, couldnt tell you what a newer one weighs, but I'll bet it's considerably less because of all the plastic and aluminum.

The older ones are lighter because of all the safety equipment the later models are required to have. Plus my 99 burb is bigger than my 72's

The safety equipment is a big part of it.Also sound deadening insulation. The cargo capacity of a 9 passenger 72 is 41cu feet.A 2006 is 47cu feet.

That is suprising.I thought heavier gauge metal weighed more than plastic, cardboard, thin metal and aluminum.I believe it,though.Just suprised.
