New guy w/ issues :)
Hey Ya'll,
Mike from northern New Jersey here. Recently got a 1972 C30 Dually w/ a mason dump body. LOVE the truck, but it doesn't stop so well. Passenger side rotor looks good...driver's side is pretty 'groovy'. The grooves are so uniform they almost look intentional. Anyways... I would think more surface area the better for stopping power (under HEAVY load). The other side of the rotor is good. Anyone know where I could get a replacement rotor? As you can see from the pic, its not your typical aftermarket job. I've searched high and low. Any help is appreciated. A thousand thanks and thanks for listening! -Mike |

Re: New guy w/ issues :)
Oh ya, the grooves were intentional. That's from the rivits on the brake pads when they wear too far. Don't know if anyone still makes those. Check wreckers ,but make sure to measure the rotor thickness that it will be above the min. spec after machining. Good luck and welcome from the great white north.

If you can't get it from Autozone or Advance then I would try Chevy. I am sure that you have already tried this route though. So I would try a place here called Wheel and Brake. Not sure if you have anything like this up there.

Re: New guy w/ issues :)
You can check with this member to see if his rotors are within spec for turning http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=188259
or as a last resort get some 3/4 ton rotors (yes they will work) and put these adapers on. http://www.southwestwheel.com/mywebs...4c_1323749.htm that would be expensive but like you said these rotors are hard to come by. I looked myself this last summer and never found any and went the adapter route since I had a good set of 3/4 rotors on hand, but it looks like they had a major price increase since I did it. Welcome to the board from West Tennessee. Good luck on your brake parts search. I know none of my trucks have one like that.
